About Troop 435

Troop 435 is a Scout lead Troop. Empowering Scouts to be leaders is one of the core principles in Scouting.  Scouting is designed to help Scouts prepare to participate in, and give leadership to, their society. With the Scoutmaster's direction and mentoring, the Scouts plan and implement the troop program. Scouts serve in positions of responsibility to make that happen. This means that the Scouts will decide on what skills they want or need to work on and plan for it in Troop meetings, decide what outdoor activities they want to do, plan the activities and assign duties. The adult Scout leader's role is to coach and ensure safety (and drive, of course!).

Troop 435 was started in 2010 and we currently have 34 Scouts enrolled.

We are proud to annouce that to-date, we have produced 44 Eagle Scouts from our Troop!

We encourage adult participation at camp-outs and activities with only BSA Youth Protection Training required.

​

There are some super-sized Troops out there; however, a smaller sized Troop like ours fits the model as suggested by BSA's founder, Robert Baden-Powell. Smaller sized Troops are able to offer more leadership opportunities to the Scouts.  Troop 435 currently has four Patrols: the Ravens, Vultrues, Penguins and the Condors.

Boy Scout Leadership Development  :

• Our Scout Youth Leadership Elections are held twice per year for 6 month terms: Elections are held in February for a term covering March through August & and in August for a term covering September through February.

• In-coming Scout leaders undergo BSA developed "Scout Youth Leadership Training Program" designed to give Scouts basic leadership skills to help them run their Patrols and Troop.
